No one likes illegal gun laws. That might be overstating it a little, but what is clear based upon the informal poll that PennLive.com is conducting is that very few people think that the course of action that Harrisburg is taking is a good idea.
It really makes no sense for the City to keep doing what it is doing. This is good money from hard working people that could be better devoted to putting police on the street or building a community center that provides after school programs to engage at risk children, rather than investing heavily into a losing effort to continue to break the clear state law.
Yesterday we asked you…
Become educated on the issues. Be vocal. Be heard.
Well, you are…
It is an interesting poll. It cannot be considered scientific in terms of a true statistically significant poll. But here is data that cannot be easily dismissed or ignored. There are some interpretation of the data:
- There are 423 votes. In this small market and that pennlive is not featuring this poll on their main page, that is a very decent showing of people.
- 308 votes or 72.81% say that the City should just repeal all 5 of their ordinances.
- If you total up all of the votes that call for Harrisburg to repeal at least some of the ordinances for whatever reason, you will see that 358 out of the 423 voted that way or 84.6%. That is a staggering percentage.
- Only 13% suggest that Harrisburg should continue on its course of action.
One of the other factors to note is that there are a core of people that do not support these ordinances, but want to see Harrisburg to keep fighting so that they pay out a lot of money and learn a lesson. Here is one such call to action:
We ask that you vote. Please pick: “Repeal them all. Otherwise the city is sure to lose and get stuck with big legal bills.”
