Fox 43 Investigates Confirms that the City of Harrisburg is wasting money on defending its illegal gun laws
In this new report, Fox43 investigative journalist Michael Hyland reports the facts that we all suspected to be true. These ordinances are nothing more than “feel good laws” that have no impact on criminality (the city’s murder rates are up and violent crime is up) and are not even being cited or enforced. See the reporting here:
We have heard a lot of silly arguments about the “need” for gun control and gun regulations that are illegal and against state law, but this one in the video by the Mayor really takes the cake. Is it reasonable to believe that only because of these ordinances that we do not have a City full of people acting like this:
Or is it more reasonable to believe that the issue of gun violence in the City is multifaceted issue requiring multiple layers of intervention over years? Is the Mayor right that we can pass laws to make brazen law breakers follow the law under the threat of perhaps an additional 90 days in jail and a $300 fine?
So now that we have this information, is the Mayor right? Without the illegal gun ordinances that they do not enforce will it be Yosemite Sam time in the City?
Is this a matter of principle and worth the hundreds of thousands of dollars it will cost the City to defend or should the City just follow the law? Please participate in our poll to let us know your thoughts.
